RESPONSIBILITIES
DUTF provides a stage in which to produce your show. We are NOT producing your show, we are merely presenting it. You or your producing organization must hire your own cast and staff, secure your own rights and run your own rehearsals, etc. If needed, DUTF will provide a technician for lighting and sound for one technical rehearsal and for the performance night only.PERFORMANCE RESTRICTIONS
The play you produce in DUTF must not run at any theatre in the five boroughs of New York City during the 30-day period before or after DUTF.MONETARY AWARDS
Three of the outstanding works during the festival will receive $1,000 awards in the categories of Best Play, Best Short and Best Audience. These awards acknowledge extraordinary works and assist in further development.NO FEE/CONTRIBUTIONS
Unlike festivals such as FringeNYC, which charges a $500 participation fee, there is no fee associated with participation in DUTF. Again, unlike festivals such as FringeNYC, which requires a contribution of 2% of gross revenues from future productions of the play for a period of seven years, there is no such clause for participation in DUTF.SCHEDULING
Your show will be scheduled at the Cherry Lane Theatre. All shows will receive only one performance during the festival. Show time for all performances is 7:30 p.m. Please remember to adhere to the agreed upon running time for your show. Shorts should be less than 45 minutes and full lengths should not exceed 90 minutes.BOX OFFICE & TICKETING
Theatermania.com handles all aspects of ticketing and box office. Tickets bought in advance at Theatermania.com are $18.00. Tickets will be available for sale at Theatermania.com about five weeks prior to the start of DUTF (by May 5.)TECHNICAL/PRODUCTION/REHEARSALS
You will need to keep the technical requirements of your show as simple as possible. The theatre is equipped with only very basic lights and sound. Storage space at the theatre is minimal; since this space is shared with all shows during the festival you must take props, set pieces and costumes away with you after your performance. You will have at a minimum two rehearsals in the theatre with one being a cue-to-cue technical rehearsal. You let us know if you would like to use the festival’s technical director.PUBLICITY
DUTF will publicize the festival and coordinate overall press relations, including interviews and critic attendance at performances critics have chosen to review. You will be asked to submit publicity photos and public relations materials so that we can send complete press packages to print and broadcast media. Also, the festival will be advertised through media partners and event flyers will be distributed. DUTF encourages participants to promote and generate attendance for their shows.CONTACT INFO
